And just like, another opportunity for passionate eSports bettors and general lovers of the pro scene arises. After Valve introduced their new Dota 2 ranked system. The second Dota 2  Major for the year is on the horizon. Eight teams from all over the globe will fight each other at DreamHack Winter 2017, starting from 1st up to the 3rd December. DreamHack will take place in Sweden. The participants will not only fight for the $1,000,000 USD prize pool, but also for 1500 Qualifying points for TI8, making it a rather important tournament which can secure a sweet spot when qualifying for the next TI.

Format, Teams & The Bracket

In order to take part in the tournaments, teams had to go through qualifiers. The games will be played in a Bo3 format until the final, where it will be a Bo5.The qualifiers were for six regions – Europe, CIS, Southeast Asia, North America, South America and China.

After battling out the participating teams are as follows:

  • Europe & CIS Qualifier – Team Secret, Natus Vincere, Team Liquid, Virtus.pro;
  • SEA – Fnatic ; NA – Evil Geniuses; SA – Infamous ; China – Newbee

As you can see this tournament will feature some really big names in the Pro Dota scene so it will be really interesting to follow it trough. EG’s superstar players Artour’ Arteezy’ Babaev and Sumail ‘Sumail’ Hassan have been somewhat quiet in and are yet to show their mark this Dota season.

Na’Vi, after making a superb win over Virtus.Pro, will try to prove that they are not to be underestimated and can bring a real challenge to the table. Team Secret and the Chinese powerhouse Newbee are in a good form and are also eager to win.

Team Liquid

The team that everyone looks up to. Their results speak for themselves – TL managed to win most of the tournaments in which they took part, including TI7. After their recent remarkable run at DotaPit, it is self-explained why they are considered the heavy favorite of both fans and bookmakers alike. If you are looking around to bet for a winner of the tournament Team Liquid is definitely one of the top choices.

Team Liquid have been in an outstanding form and are the only team which is not affected by the so called TI curse. The big question is if the other participants are capable of challenging the reign of the TI champ or are they going to be victorious once again? We are yet to see.

Coming out of a recent “disturbing” loss to Na’Vi in the Adrenalien Cyber League Tournament, Virtus.Pro will seek revenge on their fellow CIS enemy.

Their overall performance has been top notch throughout the entire year. In ESL One Hamburg they re-affirmed their positions. They won the tournament without losing a single series despite being in a group with Team Liquid. Will No[O]ne and Ramzes666  be able to carry their team into winning the 2nd Major of the year? Only time will tell, until then, make sure to follow their performance live on our livescore section, where you can also do predictions, read the betting tips that our team has made and ultimately make the go and make some money!

The Chinese powerhouse is also a highly possible winner of the Major. Their recent performance has been outstanding. They managed to win Perfect World Masters Shangha with a classy 3-0 win against Vici Gaming. Song “Sccc” Chun and Zeng “Faith” Hongda are capable of slaying every team they face.  Newbee will also seek revenge against their hardest opponent who they lost the TI7 final to – Team Liquid.

Taking into consideration the quality of the participating teams, this Major will surely feature top quality games. After introducing the new changes for the dota season, adding the qualification points, the battle for every tournament has increased a lot, because most of the teams only pushed themselves for TI, whereas now they need to win/get as high as possible in order to take a spot in the most important tournament of the year.

Who is your favorite?

Do you think that Team Liquid will take this “easy” or maybe EG will make them think twice?
