Valve has announced the addition for several new features to Dota Plus. These include Chat Wheels, in-game Tipping and the return of the ranked role queue. These are features that were a part of the The International 2018 Battle Pass. With the Battle Pass expiring very recently, the community definitely felt a void with the absence of many of these features. There were constant demands to reinstate these features especially as a part of Dota Plus.
What is Dota Plus?
Dota Plus is a premium monthly subscription service forgot 2. It comes with many features, including hero progression, statistical analysis, shards, relics, terrains, Chat Wheel lines and cosmetic item rewards. However, for the most part, the Dota Plus feature did not see the addition of new content. Several of the promised content also saw huge delays as Valve was busy with the biggest esports prize pool event in history, The International 2018.
The Dota 2 Plus subscription is available at a monthly cost of $3.99. The perks include a seasonal Terrain, Weekly battle Cup, Plus Assistant [ usage of Artifical Intelligence to guide you]. Players also gain access to hero specific challenges, tracking of hero statistics as well as access to exclusive hero sets. You can read the full set of Dota Plus perks here.
Ranked Role Queue
The Ranked Role queue matchmaking was a special feature released in the TI8 Battle pass. It allowed users to enter a match knowing their roles [ which they have selected prior to finding a match]. It allows for much smoother progression through the game, especially during the pick phase.
In traditional matchmaking, it is often difficult to find the right team composition in order to be effective. We often see players picking 3 supports or more than the requisite number of carries. There are numerous instances of the community complaining about such a matchmaking system. Valve brought the ranked role queue into the matchmaking system for a limited time with a limited user base. It was only available to the Battle Pass owners, hence allowing Valve to deeply study the usage statistics and satisfaction levels across their player base.
With the Battle Pass coming to an end and the Ranked Role queue obviously being a hit, Valve has brought it back via Dota Plus. Users will be able to play Dota 2 with Ranked Roles only until their subscription lasts.

If there is one feature that was consistently visible during all professional matches was the In-Game Tipping. It is a means for players to Tip allies or enemy players based on their performance within the game. While its primary function is meant to establish a goodwill amongst players for amazing plays, it has seen varying uses so far.
One of the most common uses is to tip an enemy player after a ‘poor play’. This is a unique way of trying tilt the enemy player while not being too antagonistic. Virtus Pro, the most dominant team during DPC Season 2017-18 was always at the forefront with their usage of the Chat Wheel and In-Game Tipping. Dota Plus Subscribers can access the In-Game tipping during their subscription period.
Chat Wheels – The Love of the community
Chat Wheels are back in Dota 2!!! Now before you think about the ‘Lakad Matataaag! Normalin, Normalin’ and the ‘echo slamma jamma’s of the game, this does not include those voice lines. Most of the Chat Wheel lines in Dota Plas are the very basic ones. But they do include some really good voice lines.
You can find the list of all the Chat Wheel Voice lines below. Dota Plus subscribers need to purchase these voice lines using Dota Plus Shards.
The FatRat Music Pack
The latest Dota 2 update also adds a long-awaited Music Pack in Dota 2. TheFatrat submitted his Dota 2 Music Pack in April 2018 and it took Valve almost 6 months to approve it.
The FatRatMusic Pack is available for $5 via the Dota 2 store. It has several really good tunes for various phases of the game. It has separate tunes for Laning, Hero pick, Ganks and special Battle Music as well. It has a ‘Warrior theme’ and it enhances the Dota 2 audio within the game.

In the wake of the thrilling conclusion to The International and the culmination of the Battle Pass season, today’s update is focused on bringing some of that summer fun into the perks of Dota Plus.
Leading the way, the Ranked Roles matchmaking queue has been added to Dota Plus. To mark the occasion, we’ve added a welcome quest where players who win 5 times in the Ranked Roles queue will earn 5000 shards.
We’ve also moved In-Game Tipping into Dota Plus, letting you celebrate the joyous moments of battle by sending some free Shards an ally’s or enemy’s way in recognition of their contributions to the game.
Express yourself year-round with select Sound Effects, which are now unlockable with Shards. Once unlocked, you’ll have access to these sounds while your Dota Plus membership is active.
