Virtus Pro has returned to the CIS scene by signing the AVANGAR CS:GO roster. This move marks their departure from the Polish scene, five years after their first and only CS:GO major victory in 2014.
Virtus Pro’s rise to fame came on the back of a strong CIS roster. The organization has fielded players such as Adren and GuardiaN in the past. After five years of fielding Polish CS:GO players, the organization has announced its return to CIS with the AVANGAR roster.
Virtus Pro’s new roster comprises a Kazakhstan-dominant CS:GO team:
It’s a big day for VP as we open a new chapter in our Counter-Strike history. It is also a great addition to our world-class Dota 2 team that will allow us to be more competitive and bring even more glory to our fans across the world. Right now we have one of the world’s youngest lineups both in Dota 2 and CS:GO and it’s a solid foundation for our further development.
Six years with a Polish lineup have been an unforgettable experience and I would like to thank our fans who have done an outstanding job supporting us throughout the years. VP would not be what it is now without the basis that was built by our players, so from the bottom of my heart I want to say a huge thanks to Taz, neo, pasha, byali, Snax, MICHU, Vegi, snatchie, phr, TOAO, morelz, OCOLICIOUZ, Loord, KubiK, Junior and kuben for all that they’ve done for us.
Roman Dvoryankin, Virtus.pro General Manager
AVANGAR rose to fame with the StarLadder Berlin Major, where the CIS team placed second after defeating prominent organizations en route to the finals. They lost to Astralis in the Grand Finals, however, the team’s performance was applauded by CS:GO fans and the community. The team followed their Major performance with a win at BLAST Pro Series Moscow. However, despite two back-to-back performances, the team has not been able to win a single tournament after this. In fact, they have mostly seen group stage exits in the subsequent LAN events.
As CIS fans prepare for some Virtus Pro Jame time, the star player for the team was excited to start his journey with Virtus Pro.
It’s an exciting moment for all of us. We’re thrilled to become a part of one of the biggest esports brands in the world and will do our best to bring VP back to the top ranks of CS. On behalf of our team I would like to thank AVANGAR management for their trust in us, we wouldn’t be here without their support.
Dzhami ‘Jame’ Ali, VP CS:GO team captain.
Despite the lack of recent results for the organization, this roster has already shown that it is capable of tier one competition and challenging the best teams in the world.
The new Virtus Pro CS:GO roster will debut at EPICENTER 2019 that kicks off on December 17, 2019.
